Shelley trained in textiles in Paris before pursuing a career in corporate design. She discovered a passion for glass during an MA in printmaking, fascinated by the way that this everyday material plays tricks on the eye and brain. She developed these ideas though a PhD at the Royal College of Art in collaboration with psychologists and neurologists.
Shelley recently completed a Parallel Practices Residency in the Natural and Mathematical Sciences Department at King’s College London, Associate Artist at the Institute for Advanced Studies, University of London and Artist in Residence at the Bristol Eye Hospital. She Her work is in public and private collections including the National Glass Museum, the Gordon Museum and the Wellcome Library.
